Cleaning can be a seemingly never-ending chore, and finding items that make certain tasks easier are often a game-changer. Cleaning experts from Dr Beckmann claim that one cosmetic item could be the key to “glistening” hobs.
The answer, the experts say, is the can of shaving home you may have tucked away in your bathroom cabinet.
According to Dr Beckmann’s team of cleaning professionals, shaving foam can be used to banish the grease and grime left behind from a busy dinner time.
How does shaving foam work as a cleaning agent?
The reason shaving foam works well as a cleaning agent for certain surfaces is down to its ingredients.
According to experts, the combination of soap and moisturisers make it good for cleaning delicate items and materials.
Meanwhile, active ingredients such as surfactants, emulsifiers and cleansing agents are rather similar to ones found in certain household soaps.

How can I clean my hob using shaving foam?
Dr Beckmann’s experts say that shaving foam can get to work banishing cooking stains from your hob in just 15 minutes.
The expert said: “Cooking can be a messy job, especially if you’re preparing a big meal.
“When you have multiple pots and pans simmering on the hob, a few spills are inevitable.
“Once the hob has cooled, spray a layer of shaving foam over the top and leave it to soak for fifteen minutes.
“Finish by simply wiping the foam away and watch how the hob glistens.”
However, it is important to note that while shaving foam can remove marks, it does not work as a sanitiser.
Therefore it is important to clean using a sanitising spray to remove any bacteria which may have built up.
What other things can I clean with shaving foam?
Shaving foam doesn’t just work to clean kitchen appliances, though, the product can also be utilised to scrub away unwanted stains in your carpet and even leave mirrors sparkling.
Simply spray shaving cream on carpet or upholstery, allow it to dry, and then blot clean or vacuum up to remove stains.
This hack is also said to work on stained car seats.
In an Instagram post, TV cleaning expert Lynsey Crombie hailed the beauty product for its stain-removing skills.
She said: “Shaving foam isn’t just for shaving, it is also a great inexpensive cleaner that works brilliantly around your home.
“I first discovered its brilliant uses when I accidentally dropped my mascara wand on new carpet, panic set in and it was the first product I grabbed from the bathroom cabinet.”
Shaving foam can also prevent your mirrors from misting up and provide a streak-free finish.
For best results, lather foam onto your mirrors, leaving for one minute and then wipe down with a clean dry towel.
