Zara and Mike Tindall’s idyllic home on a lesser-known countryside estate

I’m A Celeb: Mike Tindall tells story of Zara Tindall’s home birth

Zara and Mike Tindall may not hold senior titles in the British Royal Family though they are very much at the heart of the action.

Often spotted arm-in-arm at sporting events or on significant royal occasions, the pair are incredibly family-focused, with three young children of their own.

Thought to be close confidants of their higher-ranking counterparts, Prince William and Princess Kate, Zara and Mike followed suit in living close by to their parents.

Just as Kate, William and their children reside just a short distance from King Charles and Queen Camilla, the Tindalls call Gatcombe Park home along with Zara’s mum, Princess Anne.

As one of the lesser-known estates linked to the royals, the countryside setting is nothing short of idyllic come rain or shine.

Gatcombe Park is nestled between the villages of Minchinhampton and Avening in Gloucestershire, South West England. Close to Highgrove House, the country residence of King Charles, the peaceful location is loved by both working and non-working royals.

Zara and Mike have called the rural estate home for a decade after they traded in their multi-million pound Cheltenham home in 2013.

The sporty couple made the move shortly before the arrival of their first child, Mia, in 2014, perhaps to be closer to Zara’s mother, Princess Anne.

While the Tindalls have resided in the idyllic Gloucestershire spot for a short while, the property itself is rich in sentiment and family history.

As well as serving as the childhood home of Mike and Zara’s three children, Mia, Lena, and Lucas, the estate is also linked to the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Princess Anne has called the private retreat home since 1974 after it was given to her by Queen Elizabeth to mark her wedding.

While she now lives there with her current partner, Vice Admiral Timothy Laurence, Anne first resided at the property with her first husband Captain Mark Phillips – who is the father of Zara and her brother Peter.

The pair were raised on the estate alongside several of the Princess Royal’s horses, which are still kept there today.

Now the backdrop for a new generation of the Royal Family to grow up, the enormous 700-acre estate is an ideal setting for equine-lover and Olympic medalist, Zara to make memories with children.

And the 42-year-old even has her brother just minutes away too, with the Cotswolds address also shared by Peter Phillips and his daughters Isla and Savannah.

The privately owned grounds house several individual properties including Mike and Zara’s mansion, Aston Farm, which is complete with its own gym. While it is no doubt used by the pair to keep fit at home, Mike revealed that it is also where their youngest child, Lucas was born in 2021.

Inside, the modern abode is decorated with a blend of oak and white features along with a mixture of gold, glass and blue decorations.

Described as an “earthy” colour pallet indoors, the homely property is adorned with large windows that look out onto the sprawling lawns that fill the vast site.

A contemporary conservatory can also be seen in their home, offering the outdoorsy couple a chance to enjoy the idyllic views from the comfort of their house.
